Sperm Health Stack
Sperm take about 3 months to fully develop, which is why this (and most sperm-focused research) is built as a 3-month protocol, not a quick fix — changes made today won't show up on a semen analysis until that cycle has actually turned over. See our Semen Analysis guide for where to get one done and how to read the timeline.
CoQ10 (as Ubiquinol)
We use: CoQnol (Designs for Health)100 mg/day (1 softgel), with food, for 3 monthsOne of the more consistently studied antioxidants for sperm concentration and motility — thought to support the mitochondrial energy production sperm need to move. Take with a meal containing some fat for absorption.
L-Carnitine
We use: NOW Foods1,000 mg/day (1 tablet), for 3 monthsConcentrated in the epididymis, where sperm mature and gain motility — studied specifically for supporting movement, particularly when reduced motility is the main finding on a semen analysis.
Acetyl-L-Carnitine
We use: Thorne1 capsule twice daily, for 3 monthsOften paired with L-carnitine above rather than used alone — the acetylated form is taken up by tissue differently, and the two are frequently studied together for motility and sperm energy production.
N-acetylcysteine (NAC)
We use: Pure Encapsulations600 mg/day, for 3 monthsAn antioxidant precursor studied for count, motility, and morphology together, not just one parameter — take between meals rather than with food, split into a smaller second dose if it causes any stomach upset.
Selenium
We use: Thorne1 capsule/day, for 3 monthsSupports antioxidant defense and has specifically been studied for motility. Selenium has a real upper limit — don't exceed 400 mcg/day from all sources combined, including any multivitamin you're already taking.

Worth knowing
This is one part of a full evaluation, not a substitute for one — a baseline semen analysis before starting, and a repeat one around the 3-month mark, is the only real way to know whether it's making a difference. See our Semen Analysis guide for where to get one done.
