The three firsts

First-generation American. First-generation military officer. First physician in my family. Three firsts, in a row, each one without a blueprint from the generation before it.

That’s not just biography — it’s why access and equity aren’t abstract values to me. They were the actual condition my own path ran through. I know what it looks like when nobody hands you the plain explanation of how something works, and I know what changes when someone finally does.

The observation

Over years of practice, one piece of feedback kept coming up more than any other — patients grateful simply to be educated, often for the first time. Not treated differently. Not given some new medication. Just actually told, plainly, what was happening in their own bodies and why.

That’s the demand-side evidence for everything Arte & Cera is: women aren’t underserved because the care doesn’t exist. They’re underserved because no one takes the time to explain it.

The act

I went to medical school so you didn’t have to. I paid, in time and tuition, to learn this — so I could hand it to you plainly instead of keeping it behind a fifteen-minute visit.Arte & Cera is that sharing, built to reach more people than any single appointment ever could.

The mission

Take what’s true and trusted — the kind of explanation that’s usually locked behind a visit — and hand it to women directly. So you walk into an appointment already informed, get taken seriously, and stop suffering in silence over something that turned out to be explainable all along.

Knowing your body shouldn’t be a privilege.

A note on the voice: everything on this site is written in Dr. Angel’s own words, first-person, because it is his voice — not a persona. He’s not your doctor, and nothing here replaces your own clinician, but the explanations are the same ones he’d give you in the room if there were time.
