The Hirsutism Self-Assessment

Excess hair growth in a male pattern — called hirsutism — is one of the most common signs of elevated androgens and a key feature of PMOS (polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome, formerly known as PCOS). This tool uses the modified Ferriman-Gallwey scale, the same validated method clinicians use, to put a number to something that's often dismissed.

So many women are told that extra hair, stubborn acne, or irregular cycles are just how they are. I want to be clear: these things may be common, but common doesn't mean normal — and they're often a sign worth understanding. This is a starting point to open that conversation, not close it. Research shows we tend to score ourselves a little higher than a clinician would, so your result simply helps me understand your pattern and guides what we look at next.
